We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the inviduals who volunteered for the Fall 2019 Season as a Coach, Assistant Coach or Field Liner. Our Rec Program would not be possible without the generous donation of time and talent by these individuals. As you register your player for the upcoming Spring Season, we hope you will consider whether you’re able to volunteer in one of these capacities in support of our soccer community. Here are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Rec MTSC Soccer Season:
Q: With the new Age Group categories, my child is young and will be playing with much older kids. Is there a way to play my child down an age group category?
A: This is the second season for the new age group categories to go into effect. Although it may seem like a stretch for the younger aged-kids in each category, they will be in the same boat as half of their class. In other words, the oldest kids in each category last season have all bumped up to an older age group. So your younger child will be in the company of other children their age that fall into the same circumstance your child does. We are anticipating that it will not be as challenging as it looks on paper at the outset. If you have any questions, please ask before you pay so that we can assess the situation. We typically do not like to play children DOWN.
Q: What time of day are the games, and when do they start?
A: Boys games and COED (U6 and U19) are held on Saturday during the timeframe of 8am-11am (1hr game slots for U6-U10, longer for U12-U19). Girls games are held on Sundays during the timeframe of 1pm-3+pm (1hr game slots for U6-U10, longer for U12-U19).
Q: What is the “evaluation” process, and can my child still play with their friends?
A: We introduced short and easy pre-season evals for the players Age Groups U6-U8, in an effort to create more balanced teams. A quick 15-minute, fun set of drills will allow Team Coordinators to build balanced rosters with veteran and new players, ensuring a better overall experience during the season. We will still honor all friend requests. The only exception where we may need split up requests, is if there are 5 to 6 players all requesting each other, and they are all very experienced. In that case we would break them into 2 teams, but keep 2-3 players together on each one. All single friend requests will be honored. You need to indicate the friend request in the online registration process.
